Dolfin, born Darron Eaves, grew up in Pine Bluff, one of the bigger cities in Arkansas. Pine Bluff’s sparse rap scene fueled Eaves to be a leader in the Arkansas rap scene as opposed to deterring his rap dreams.
“It made me hungry, I knew I had a skill…So when I make music I try to make a hit every time. Quality over quantity,” Lil Dolfin explained in a recent interview.
This motto has led Dolfin to drop just six projects since 2015, none of which exceed 12 tracks. Limiting the number of songs on his projects allows him to have a level of quality control that isn’t seen often in today’s rap space where bloated albums and deluxe projects reign supreme.
