Lyte, born Eric Colvin on June 23, 1987, is a rapper born and raised in Queens, New York. Inspired by the creative sounds of mixes played by his father, a local DJ in Queens, he took a strong liking to music. At the age of 10 years old he wrote his first song and recorded by the age of fourteen. Growing up listening to artist like Jay-Z, Nas, and 50 Cent he developed a very versatile style of writing music. At the age of 24, in 2011, falling victim to the street life, Lyte was sentenced to four to twelve years in prison. Luckily, he only served his minimum time. Using his time wisely while incarcerated, he took time to perfect his craft and become the amazing artist he is today. Always in his cell cooking up some more music, he gained the nickname "Chef Boy Lytee". He has ambitions to be one of the greatest rappers to ever live. His modern days influences are Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Drake. In the near future, his name will be known throughout the United States and Internationally. Lyte a.k.a. Chef Boy Lytee will take the game by storm!
